Nuts and Bolts

Hi everybody! I wanted to give a short little nuts & bolts post. It is currently a little past 1am here in Montreal and we are safely in the Fairfield Inn. It’s comfy and we were able to have some good fellowship time watching the Blackhawks win tonight! GO HAWKS!!!

So if you haven’t noticed by now… this year’s blog is a little different from last year’s blog. I’ve decided to no longer post the tour pictures to Flickr or Picasa photo albums because I always end up posting the to Facebook anyways so that the kids can be tagged in them and they can easily comment on them. It’s a great way for them to go back and re-live some of their favorite moments from tour each year after we get back home. I’ve been putting public links to the photo albums on some of the blog posts for you to click to if you do not have a facebook account. I will continue to do that… however it would probably be a good idea for you all to get a facebook account anyways. That way you can interact with me and the kids in the comments section of the photo albums as well as the comment section of this blog. (Facebook isn’t just for kids anymore)

I mentioned in a previous blog post that I shot some video of our concert at Grace Congregational Church in Two Rivers, WI. I plan on editing some of that footage tomorrow and uploading it to YouTube. I’ll embed the video(s) in a post on this blog when I do. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get around to that… it’s just a little more time consuming than doing an image file dump to facebook… you understand.

Below are some links you might find useful.

BE MY FRIEND ON FACEBOOK! – so you can comment on all the tour photos and because I am lonely and need friends.

FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER – you will get even more frequent (when in the U.S.) updates on our activities in 140 characters or less, and be the first to find out when a new blog post has been published!

FOLLOW ME ON POSTEROUS – this is where I post even more frequent real-time pictures of our adventures (when in the U.S)

SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON YOUTUBE – this is where I will (eventually) be posting the videos from tour this year.

So there you have it! I think that’s all I have for right now. Looking forward to exploring Old Montreal tomorrow. Now to roll over and get some shut-eye. It’s now 1:45am… oh boy.

Faith Sharing

This morning we worshiped with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The pastor invited Billy, Rachel and Cam up with him during his message to share some words about how they got involved in the choir and what their faith means to them. They are going to share some of their stories with you now.

Hey everyone, it’s Rachel! This morning was amazing, talking to Pastor Jeff. He really is an amazing man and he is really hilarious. He asked each of us questions about why we joined choir and things like that. It really made me think, but once I sat down and really read the questions prior to the service, I realized it came easy. I realized I joined choir through my cousin’s influence because she always told me about these amazing stories about choir tour and she wanted me to partake in something that was really worth it. Choir is truly a place where I can feel like I am home, and that everyone loves me for who I am truly. I don’t have to put on a mask to impress anyone, I can just be myself. Everyone to me is like one big family and when we sing, it is a chance for us to understand how much we love each other. I have never been apart of something this truly amazing. Love you all! ~Rachel

Well hello fellow bloggers. Earlier today I got the chance to share a part of my faith story with some of the family members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Pastor Jeff, the man whom I’m standing next to in the picture was full of energy. This great man reminded me of Mayor Pradel in the way he spoke with enthusiasm.  PJ first asked me how I how I got to join Eagle’s Wings. Vic Sharp, the former element leader, introduced me to Mrs. P and a few choir members after one Element service after meeting them I was positive this was the place I wanted to be. PJ also asked me what song my favorite church song to sing was. My favorite song to sing would definitely be I Want To Know You More. Its a song about someone who wants to understand God more. This is my favorite because it makes me feel like I am not alone. I wonder A LOT about God. Finally, he asked me to give people a reason to participate in “God Shack”. I told him and everyone else it is because the choir and youth group is very accepting and no-judgmental. For instance, last night I slept in a bath tub. No one thought that was weird. Which would have been a totally different story if it was at high school.

God is Love, Cam.

Hey hey hey, it was pretty interesting talking to Pastor Jeff today. He quizzed us on a multitude of questions and the first one was when did we get God’s calling for EW, originally it was my mom who made me sing at choir but when I started to make friends here i knew that was when I found my calling. The second question I got was what my favorite song was that we have sang, and my favorite one was “The One Thing” by Paul Coleman just because the song makes so much sense in my life and Paul is just so original. Four our final question it was what advice I could offer and that I responded by saying that these kids are my best friends and I trust most of them with my life and my secrets. Everyone here has influenced my life so much and I don’t where they would be without them.

Hangin Out… Down The Street…

… a different thing… than we did last week!

We dispersed to host homes last night and I was with Dan Beirne, Dan Reishus, Evan Swiatek, Cam Dart and Nick Miller. We stayed a few blocks from this oldish roman catholic church. So naturally we were drawn to it. We found it locked but that was not a problem for us. We just spent some time hanging out and playing guitar and bongo. Played a little Frisbee… you know… hanging out! It was a beautiful night and the temperature was just right.

Thank you God for these times we have together to be random and just… you know… hang out.

God is Good! All the Time!
