Ah, the open road.

Here we are… on a journey through the plain states on our way to Colorado.

But it is so much more than just that. It’s so much more than driving through grain fields, singing at churches and youth centers. It’s so much more than stopping at truck stops, and stinky feet.

This journey is not about the destination.

This journey is about encountering God in the people we meet. The songs we sing. The smiles we bring and the smiles brought to us. This journey is about the conversations. We are a group of 41 high school students, 7 adult chaperones and a bus driver. Some of us are best friends and we are super excited to share this journey with each other. But there are others we do not know yet. There are others in our group we have yet to have a conversation with. As much as this journey we are on through the plain states is about meeting and talking with the people we meet along the way, it is just as much about meeting the people sitting next to us on the bus.

Everyday we are challenging ourselves to sit next to someone we normally wouldn’t… to get out of our zone of comfort. We are challenging ourselves to be open to the conversation we’ve never had before. This journey is different. Just the fact that we are on a bus traveling towards distant conversations is different. It is outside our routine.

It has only been 12 hours and we are already engaging in conversations we normally wouldn’t.

As much as this journey is about singing God’s praises. It is about finding God in the conversations we have with each other and the people we meet along the way.

We are excited!

Hey Everyone! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Graham Brenna and I am going to be blogging this tour for you all. We are traveling this week from our home in Naperville, IL through Iowa, Nebraska and into Colorado! We are very excited to be singing God’s praises as we go with churches, youth centers, and other community centers.
